Nigeria's Data Protection Commission has issued more than 20 major remediation orders, investigated more than 240 data breach cases and publicly identified over 1,900 organisations for non-compliance, its chief Vincent Olatunji said Thursday at a judicial workshop in Abuja. The commission has also registered more than 41,000 major data controllers and processors within three years and received over 8,000 compliance audit returns. Parties dissatisfied with a commission order can seek judicial review within 30 days under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. The commission did not specify the organisations involved, the nature of the breaches or the penalties imposed.
