Zelensky seeks US sanctions on companies building Russia's satellite internet network

Zelensky seeks US sanctions on companies building Russia's satellite internet network Image: Primary
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has asked Donald Trump to sanction Russian and Chinese companies building Russia's Rassvet satellite internet network, the Financial Times reported. Zelensky has raised the request several times, including at a recent meeting in New York, and said the network could start working by early next year. Russian firm Bureau 1440 is building Rassvet. Its own network would give Russian forces a communications link that the US and SpaceX cannot switch off. Bureau 1440 launched its first 16 working satellites in March and needs more than 250 to offer service. The company targets a 2027 commercial launch, later than Zelensky's timeline.
