Salesforce Rolls Out 30 AI Features for Slack, Including Meeting Transcription and Desktop Agent
Image: Primary Salesforce announced more than 30 new artificial intelligence features for Slack on Tuesday, marking the most significant product overhaul of the workplace messaging platform since the company acquired it in 2021.
The update, reported by TechCrunch, includes a meeting transcription feature that automatically captures and summarizes conversations in real time, removing the need for manual note-taking during calls. The additions also include an operator mode, which allows an AI agent to complete multi-step tasks directly on the desktop -- representing a significant push toward autonomous AI-driven workflows within the Slack environment.
Salesforce chief executive Marc Benioff has been outspoken about the company's commitment to AI, framing the technology as central to its future product strategy. The Slack overhaul reflects that posture, embedding AI agents throughout the platform rather than offering them as optional add-ons.
Other features in the rollout span areas including intelligent search, automated action suggestions, and enhanced integration with Salesforce's broader suite of enterprise software tools. The company is positioning Slack not just as a communications tool but as a workspace where AI handles operational tasks on behalf of users.
The release comes as enterprise software companies compete aggressively on AI capabilities, with Microsoft integrating Copilot deeply into Teams and Google expanding its AI features in Workspace. Salesforce is betting that embedding AI into Slack's core workflows will differentiate the platform and strengthen retention among enterprise customers.
The new Slack features are being rolled out to customers beginning this week. TechCrunch reported the announcement on March 31, 2026.
