Amazon Payments reports a high single-digit percentage relative lift in final-funnel conversion for one customer population in a seven-week online A/B test of AI-based personalization. Another population saw no improvement over the existing experience, which AWS attributes to the content rather than the model.

The system selects image and tagline combinations using customer behavioral signals. It balances testing less-certain options against serving stronger performers, combining separate models for application starts, submissions and approvals.

A weekly Amazon SageMaker AI processing job updates recommendations from customer outcomes. Delayed approval decisions enter subsequent batches, while content building blocks receive human oversight before use.
