Intel plans to take some Panther Lake manufacturing capacity offline to produce more data center chips, Chief Financial Officer David Zinsner said on its third-quarter earnings call. The shift would replace capacity for 18A wafers with Intel 3 production in Oregon.

The announcement adds a manufacturing response to Intel's weakening PC outlook. Zinsner said the company expects its client business to decline by more than 20% next quarter. CEO Lip-Bu Tan also confirmed that Nova Lake will be Intel's first client product using its enhanced 18A-P manufacturing process, without specifying which chip components will use it.
