Tinder and Zoom have announced partnerships with World, the biometric identity company founded by Sam Altman, to integrate eye-scanning verification into their platforms.

World, formerly known as Worldcoin, operates verification Orbs that scan users' eyes to prove they are human. Tinder will roll out the authentication method globally after piloting it in Japan. Users who complete the verification at a physical Orb location will receive a "verified human" badge on their profile. Tinder is also offering five free profile boosts to encourage participation.

Zoom is taking a different approach with World ID Deep Face. The technology cross-references an image taken during Orb verification with a real-time face check from the user's device and the live video frame that other participants see. If all three match, the user receives a "Verified Human" badge.

World is also pitching itself as a solution to ticket scalping. The company announced Concert Kit, software that ticketers can use to ensure only verified humans purchase tickets. Each version of the verification system requires users to submit to biometric scans.

The company reportedly has about 18 million verified users, though many signed up in developing nations through the promise of Worldcoin, a cryptocurrency that has seemingly been deprioritized. Last year, World claimed it planned to deploy 7,500 Orbs in the United States but has not provided an update on that target.
