GlobalFoundries plans Dresden production of FDX Fusion chips in 2028

GlobalFoundries Image: Primary
GlobalFoundries announced FDX Fusion, a chip manufacturing process it plans to bring into production in Dresden, Germany, in 2028. The company promises 7nm-class digital performance and more than twice the transistor density of its original 22FDX process, targeting automotive, industrial, robotics and edge AI applications. The process combines digital logic with radio-frequency circuitry, analog functions, embedded memory and computing within memory on a single chip. GlobalFoundries plans initial demonstration silicon for customer evaluation in early 2027 and a process design kit in mid-2027. Infineon confirmed collaboration on future radar and wireless technologies. GlobalFoundries has not disclosed actual transistor density or defined its digital-performance comparison, so the claims do not establish equivalence to existing 7nm FinFET processes.
