Decomp.dev is shutting its public index and leaderboard to new projects after its creator said AI-assisted forks and rushed PC ports had undermined the game decompilation community, Tom's Hardware reported. Existing project pages, progress reports and histories will remain available.

The site tracks efforts to write source code that compiles into the same machine code as an original game. Its creator, known as encounter, said newer AI models accelerate that work but can produce matching code that does not resemble the original developers' work. Policing AI use across hundreds of projects had become impractical, and some forks contributed little or nothing back to the projects they used.
