Republican committees move toward Supreme Court appeal over TV political-ad rates

Republican campaign committees said they intend to appeal to the Supreme Court after the Fourth Circuit ruled that the FCC cannot enforce an order requiring broadcast stations to offer political parties and joint fundraising committees the lowest ad rates available to individual candidates. The committees sought an immediate stay, but the Fourth Circuit denied it and issued its mandate. Republicans plan to seek emergency Supreme Court relief before the September 4 discount period.
