# Microsoft introduces biology model tested on pancreatic cancer cells

Microsoft Research introduced Quine, an experimental system that predicts how biological systems may respond to interventions and helps scientists choose experiments.

Working with Broad Institute researchers, it used the system to rank thousands of compounds for their potential to change pancreatic cancer cell states. Microsoft says several leading candidates produced the intended changes in laboratory assays. Quine combines information about biological sequences, structures, cell states and images with scientific tools and literature.

Microsoft is opening access through a fellows program and selected research collaborations. The system is intended for research, and its predictions require experimental review; it is not for clinical use.
