McDonald's is testing ads from other brands on digital drive-through menu boards at a limited number of company-owned restaurants, The Verge reported, citing Bloomberg. The ads appear after a customer places an order, while the customer waits for food.

The pilot turns an existing ordering screen into advertising space and could create another revenue stream for the chain as it faces slowing US sales. Its scope is limited to company-owned restaurants in the test.
