Volkswagen plans to export China-developed vehicle technology to new markets

Volkswagen plans to export China-developed vehicle technology to new markets Image: Primary
Volkswagen plans to use technology developed in China for cars sold outside the country, starting with South America, Reuters reported. Previously, the carmaker reserved that technology for its Chinese market. New models will use its Compact Main Platform and China Electronic Architecture, developed in Hefei with Chinese partners. The architecture, built with Xpeng, supports vehicles whose features run and update through software across several platforms and engine types. The first cars are due in South America by the end of the decade. Volkswagen also plans more exports of China-built Volkswagen and Jetta cars to South America and Africa over the next few years. It has ruled out China-developed models for Europe and North America for now.
