MetaMask exits staking validators amid infrastructure security incident

MetaMask exits staking validators amid infrastructure security incident Image: Primary
MetaMask disclosed an ongoing infrastructure security incident Thursday and said it is exiting affected validators in its non-custodial staking operations as a precaution. The company said there was no immediate threat to MetaMask wallets and that it does not hold clients' staking withdrawal keys. Lido Finance said MetaMask Staking had begun exiting Ethereum validators in its protocol. It said the measures would likely result in lost rewards and could bring downtime penalties if validators are taken offline. The final validators are expected to exit by the end of October 7th, 2026, although they will not yet be fully withdrawn. MetaMask has not disclosed which infrastructure was affected or whether systems or data were compromised.
