Nvidia says its robotics lab achieved success rates above 95% in assembling busbars into GB300 tester trays, but the system still misses manufacturing targets set with its operations team and Foxconn. Busbars carry high current; assembly requires positioning fixtures, inserting the bar and fastening 16 screws.

The setup divides work among three robot arms and uses separate perception, planning and control components rather than end-to-end learning. Multiple camera views help estimate part positions, while force-aware control supports gentle insertion.

The full cycle takes 160 seconds against a 124-second target, with screwdriving the main bottleneck. Manufacturers require 99.5% success and no unintended tray collisions; remaining failures primarily involve grasping errors and parts slipping during insertion.
