Coca-Cola said its U.S. dairy division fairlife has temporarily halted production after a ransomware attack discovered last Thursday.

The company disclosed the cyberattack in a mandatory stock exchange filing on Monday. According to the filing, Coca-Cola detected unauthorized access to parts of its systems, including production-related systems, in connection with a ransomware event. The company has activated its incident response protocols and business continuity processes.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing with external consultants and cybersecurity experts. Coca-Cola said the incident has no impact on product safety and quality. However, fairlife production in the United States has been temporarily suspended while the Canadian division is not affected.

The full extent of the incident is still unclear. On the darknet leaksite of the cyber gang Anubis, the ransomware group claims to have exfiltrated one terabyte of confidential data while encrypting the servers. A countdown threatens publication of the data in just over six days.

The stock exchange filing does not indicate that Coca-Cola plans to pay a ransom.
