ByteDance reportedly nears custom AI chip arrangement with MediaTek

ByteDance reportedly nears custom AI chip arrangement with MediaTek Image: Primary
ByteDance is in advanced talks with MediaTek over custom chips for its data center expansion, Bloomberg reported, according to GSMDome. The discussions concern application-specific integrated circuits tailored to ByteDance's platforms and workloads. An agreement could make ByteDance MediaTek's second major customer for such chips after Google. The potential arrangement would support an AI buildout that includes Seedance video-generation models. No agreement has been publicly announced, and neither chip volumes nor a delivery timetable have been disclosed. MediaTek declined to comment to Bloomberg, while ByteDance had not responded.
