Vercel made Nvidia's Nemotron 3.5 Lightning available free through AI Gateway, with Nvidia serving the model. The open-weight reasoning and chat model supports long-running agents, chatbots and systems that retrieve information to answer questions.

The model has 30B parameters, with 3B active per token, and a 1M token context window. It supports tool calling and structured outputs and can be accessed through the AI SDK, Chat Completions, Responses and Messages APIs, or a coding agent connected to AI Gateway. Vercel warns that the provider may retain prompts for model improvement.
