The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has closed its investigation into approximately 2.6 million Tesla vehicles equipped with the Actually Smart Summon driverless parking feature.

The probe, which the agency opened in 2025, examined reports of low-speed incidents involving the feature that allows Tesla owners to remotely summon their vehicles in parking lots and driveways. NHTSA said it found the feature was involved only in low-speed events with no serious injuries.

The closure removes one regulatory inquiry from Tesla's portfolio of active safety investigations, though the automaker remains under scrutiny for other aspects of its driver assistance systems including Autopilot and Full Self-Driving.

Smart Summon is part of Tesla's suite of automated driving features marketed to consumers as convenience functions distinct from its highway-focused Autopilot system. The company has continued to expand the capabilities of its driver assistance software through over-the-air updates while navigating regulatory oversight in multiple jurisdictions.
