# AWS expands DataSync Enhanced transfers to OpenZFS and NFS 4.2

_Published Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 3:26 PM EDT · Infrastructure · Latest · Tier 2 — Notable_

AWS DataSync Enhanced mode now supports Amazon FSx for OpenZFS as a transfer source or destination, AWS announced. Customers moving data to or from those file systems were previously limited to Basic mode.

The update also supports NFS 4.2, letting customers transfer from servers using that protocol without reverting to an older version. A new ObjectMetadata option controls whether user metadata is copied during object-storage transfers, helping preserve destination metadata or avoid incompatible source keys. The capabilities are available wherever Enhanced mode is supported, and existing scheduled tasks remain unaffected.
