Edinburgh-based Danu Robotics has raised $5 million in late-seed funding and is shipping its H.E.R.O. recycling robots, TechCrunch reports. The company has $500,000 in signed contracts, letters of interest from two large customers and more than 200 customers in its sales pipeline.

H.E.R.O. uses a pincer claw to pick recyclable items rather than the suction systems used by competitors. Danu uses AI to continuously improve the robot's software. Founder Amy Ma's next goal is to make the machine sturdier, smaller and more versatile so it can eventually operate outside dedicated waste facilities.
