Researchers demonstrated a wire-driven robot system in which two suspended bodies supported and lifted a mannequin, then transferred it onto a stretcher, an arXiv preprint reports. Adding a wire between the bodies extended an approach that conventionally assumes a single working end.

These robots move by applying tension through multiple wires. Interference between wires and moving bodies has made simultaneous operation of multiple suspended bodies difficult. The physical experiment demonstrates coordinated handling of a mannequin as a rescue motion; the authors identify large-object manipulation and rescue support as potential applications.
