Googlebooks cannot currently install Slack's web app, and their Linux desktop apps lack Chromebook-style integration, 9to5Google reports. Google confirmed that Slack does not meet its requirements for an installable web app. ChromeOS permits manual installation; Google says that capability will come to Googlebooks soon.

Googlebook's Terminal app provides a Debian Linux environment that can run developer tools and graphical apps. Users who tested it found graphical apps sharing a single Terminal display window, without separate Android windows or taskbar items. Google says graphical apps are not the main focus of the initial release.
