Revolut disclosed customer records after fraudulent government-email requests

Revolut disclosed sensitive information about roughly 680 customers after receiving fraudulent requests from a legitimate government-agency email domain, according to reporting citing Reuters. The company said its systems and customer accounts were not hacked, and customer funds were unaffected. Notices reviewed by TechCrunch said the exposed information could include identity documents, verification selfies, contact details and transaction histories. Revolut said it blocked the email source, notified authorities and contacted affected customers. Italy's postal police opened an investigation after the request was traced to a certified email account associated with the Reggio Calabria prefecture, ANSA reported. The incident concerns the release of records to an unauthorized requester, rather than a break-in to Revolut's infrastructure.
