Nvidia announced an October update to DLSS 5, its AI rendering technology for games, that it says halves GPU overhead at similar visual fidelity compared with the September model, Tom's Hardware reported. The company reports 20% lower video memory use at 4K and a model containing 118 million parameters.

Nvidia attributes the improvement to changes in the processing pipeline and neural model. It says the update can increase frame rates by up to 1.4x.

The faster model will debut in NBA 2K27 on October 16. DLSS 5 remains supported on RTX 50-series GPUs, GeForce NOW and the new RTX Spark lineup.
