Microsoft 365 Copilot pricing changes take effect July 1, 2026, as Copilot becomes permanent in business plans

Microsoft 365 Copilot becomes a permanent SKU in business plans on July 1, 2026, ending promotional pricing that had kept the AI assistant at a discount since launch, according to Strategic Micro Systems' blog, citing Microsoft's Build 2026 announcements. Microsoft announced at Build 2026 on June 2 that Copilot shifts from a promotional add-on to a permanent product line for business subscribers. Current promotional pricing at $18 per user per month expires June 30. Starting July 1, the standalone Copilot Business add-on costs $21 per user per month. Two bundled plans also debut July 1 for new commercial customers: Microsoft 365 Business Standard with Copilot at $23.50 per user per month, and Microsoft 365 Business Premium with Copilot at $32.00 per user per month. Existing customers transition at renewal with at least 30 days' notice. Microsoft also said Work IQ APIs, the intelligence layer that gives Copilot organizational context from email, meetings, documents and org relationships, go generally available on June 16. The company reported 450 million commercial M365 subscribers with roughly 15 million paid Copilot seats, representing about 3.3% of the addressable base.
