Anduril's Steelfin interceptor design uses interchangeable components to address different missile threats without replacing the entire missile design, New Atlas reported. The company has completed ballistic testing with representative air vehicles; full flight testing is scheduled to begin next year.

The two-stage design combines a common second-stage airframe, electronics and flight controls with swappable sensors and different first-stage rocket motors. It is designed to work with existing launch canisters and battle management systems, allowing new configurations without retooling entire production lines.

Anduril aims to manufacture several thousand units annually, but the tight supply of solid rocket motors and propellants remains a constraint. High-speed interception performance also remains unproven.
