The FBI is investigating ShinyHunters' claim that it stole personal information about thousands of current and former agency employees after exploiting a previously unknown flaw on FBIJobs.gov, Ars Technica reported. The group also placed a seizure message on the jobs site's homepage, according to earlier reporting cited by Ars.

ShinyHunters told The New York Times it took two to three terabytes of data, including names, home addresses and some medical information. The group says it acted to pressure the FBI to change a warning about its activities. The reported data theft remains an allegation under investigation, and Ars said none of the claimed data had been leaked.
