D-Wave made an updated Stride hybrid solver available through its Leap quantum cloud service, saying an improved core algorithm delivers better optimization results. The solver combines quantum and classical computing resources for problems such as route planning and assembly-line balancing.

In company benchmarks on simple assembly-line balancing problems, the upgrade found better solutions in 15 seconds than its predecessor found in 120 seconds. For traveling salesperson problems with up to 10,000 locations, solutions averaged within 0.02% of the best possible result in 15 seconds. Those comparisons measure improvement against the previous Stride version.
