# Developer reports macOS 27 failures accessing encrypted HFS+ storage

Developer Wade Tregaskis reports that macOS 27 fails to mount encrypted HFS+ volumes managed through CoreStorage using Disk Utility or normal command-line tools. His tests also encountered failures converting the volumes to APFS or erasing them through standard tools.

A lower-level mounting command did provide read-only access, qualifying the apparent loss of support. Tregaskis could not obtain read-write access and ultimately rebuilt his volumes from backups. He also reports that macOS displays a warning identifying macOS 28 as the version that will lose support, despite the failures he encountered in macOS 27.
