# AWS opens Equinix preview for managed private cloud connections

AWS made its Interconnect last mile service available in preview with Equinix, offering managed private connections without customers ordering cross-connects or configuring routers. AWS says the service preconfigures capacity across two locations and four links, with a 99.99% availability SLA and MACsec encryption between AWS and Equinix edge devices by default.

The preview offers free 1 Gbps connections to US West in Northern California through San Jose and US East in Northern Virginia through that metro. Bandwidth from 1 Gbps to 100 Gbps is planned for general availability.
