Infleqtion says it created 30 entangled logical qubits on its Sqale quantum computing system, a company-reported step toward operations across error-protected quantum bits. A logical qubit encodes information across multiple physical qubits so errors in individual components can be detected and corrected.

The company uses neutral atoms controlled by lasers as physical qubits. It also says a combined hardware and software design, aided by AI, halved the physical gates needed for a key logical operation. Each gate presents another opportunity for error.
