UK lawmaker seeks court order to block Grok from making sexualised images of her

British Labour lawmaker Jess Asato, who is suing Elon Musk's xAI over fake sexualised images of her created with the Grok chatbot, said on Tuesday she is seeking a court order to stop the system from generating non-consensual sexualised images of her, Reuters reported. Asato has filed a High Court lawsuit in London for misuse of private information and breach of data protection laws. She said last month that users created fake images of her, including a video of her being chloroformed and prepared for a sexual assault, after she publicly criticised Musk and Grok. Court filings show she wants an order requiring xAI to implement effective and permanent technical measures so Grok cannot create manipulated images of her. Her lawyers said the case could have consequences for AI developers and that no case has applied data protection and privacy law in this way to an AI developer before. xAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment, Reuters said. Grok has not filed a response to the lawsuit. The chatbot is distributed through Musk's social media platform X and faces regulatory probes in several countries after outcry over non-consensual sexualised image generation. Asato's lawyers cited internal Grok prompts that told the system not to assist users clearly trying to engage in criminal activity, while also stating there were no restrictions on adult sexual content or offensive content, and no restrictions on fictional adult sexual content with dark or violent themes. xAI said in mid-January it restricted image editing in Grok and blocked users from generating images of people in revealing clothing where it is illegal. Reuters found in early February that Grok continued to generate sexualised images of people even when users explicitly warned that the subjects do not consent. The City of Baltimore sued xAI in March over fake sexualised images generated by Grok, one of several cases in the U.S. and the Netherlands.
