AWS increases Aurora serverless scaling steps to 16 ACUs

AWS says Amazon Aurora serverless can now add up to 16 Aurora capacity units, or ACUs, within a second and continue scaling to 256 ACUs as demand grows. The change targets workloads with bursts of activity and long idle periods, including AI agents. Aurora automatically scales down to zero when work finishes. The enhancement is enabled by default on clusters running platform version 3 or 4. Clusters on versions 1 and 2 can upgrade directly to version 4; eligible clusters require no configuration changes.
