LittleJS has added a full 3D renderer to its dependency-free HTML5 game engine, creator Frank Force announced. The renderer shares a canvas with 2D games, and both kinds of objects use the same physics, child objects and timers. Developers can combine a 2D interface with a 3D scene or place a 2D game inside a 3D world.

The update also adds built-in 2D and 3D level editors with undo, autosave and prefabs, plus a particle-effects library. Force reworked rendering with batched 2D sprites and instanced 3D drawing. His performance comparisons cover one machine and two workloads, limiting broader conclusions.
