NASA plans to put another $359 million into Boeing's Starliner program for capsule upgrades and a new rocket, CBS12 reported. The agency says it needs two companies capable of transporting astronauts to the International Space Station in case one provider encounters problems.

NASA plans another uncrewed Starliner mission, potentially in December or January 2027. A successful flight would precede a crewed mission in 2028. Starliner's 2024 flight docked at the station, but NASA lacked confidence that it could return the crew safely; SpaceX brought them home. The station is scheduled to retire by 2030.
