Reddit is testing ads in search results with a select group of eligible advertisers, the company announced. Ad selection will use factors including the search query, targeting searches that Reddit considers to show purchase intent.

A search for an espresso station could produce ads for espresso machines, coffee beans or mugs; a home-office search could surface monitors, desks or chairs. Reddit says it will evaluate how users respond during the initial test and use those findings to refine the experience for users and advertisers.
