USA Today Co. and several of its local newspapers sued OpenAI on Thursday, seeking more than $250 million in damages, The Verge reported. The publisher alleges OpenAI copied hundreds of thousands of articles without permission to train its AI models and caused continuing harm to its outlets.

The Tennessean, Indy Star, The Columbus Dispatch and The Oklahoman are among the local outlets included in the lawsuit. OpenAI did not immediately respond to The Verge's request for comment.
