AMD has released EXPO 1.2, an updated memory overclocking technology for AM5 motherboards that adds support for faster memory kits, new timing controls, and additional memory vendors. Third-party developer 1usmus and hardware leaker chi11eddog detailed the improvements. One standout addition is Ultra Low Latency mode, which chi11eddog claims can reduce memory latency EXPO 1.2 adds support for module geometry, which refers to the arrangement of memory chips on a module. The feature may relate to HUDIMMs, a recent innovation that suppresses one 32-bit sub-channel to address memory shortages cost-effectively. The update introduces support for MRDIMMs designed for server and data center platforms, though these will not be available on consumer AM5 boards. Support for CUDIMMs and CSODIMMs remains partial. EXPO 1.2 retains AMD also expanded compatibility Analysts expect the most substantial benefits of EXPO 1.2 will be unlocked with Zen 6 processors, which are anticipated between late 2026 and early 2027.
