General Compute raises $100 million for inference cloud infrastructure

General Compute raises $100 million for inference cloud infrastructure Image: Primary
General Compute raised $100 million in Series A funding led by Blackbird Ventures and Abstract Ventures, valuing the company at $800 million post-money, TechCrunch reported. A customer deal worth $100 million in annual recurring revenue helped pave the way for the financing. The startup supplies raw servers to inference cloud companies using chips from Nvidia rivals. It has added Positron and Cerebras alongside SambaNova, with which it struck a $400 million chip purchase deal. General Compute rents data center space and converts former bitcoin-mining sites rather than building large facilities from scratch. CEO Finn Puklowski expects to deploy 75 megawatts in 2027 but says further debt and equity financing remains necessary.
