Researcher Matthew Callaghan found that loading AliExpress caused his multipoint Bluetooth headphones to stop playing phone audio, then identified two obfuscated scripts on the retailer's homepage. The scripts rendered a WebAudio graph that measured browser-specific frequency data from a generated sawtooth waveform. The scripts set audio gain to zero, but the browser still processed the audio and sent the resulting data to AliExpress, according to the report.
