Zoox leases more than 350,000 square feet beside Hayward factory

Zoox has leased two industrial buildings in Hayward, California, adding more than 350,000 square feet beside its existing 220,000-square-foot robotaxi factory, Hoodline reported. JLL announced the completed lease, and city records show Zoox has received a business license to operate at the warehouses. A Zoox spokesperson said the space will support expansion of its purpose-built robotaxi fleet and vehicle development in California, but declined to specify how the buildings will be used. Its existing assembly plant has annual capacity of up to 10,000 robotaxis. California permits currently bar Zoox from charging passenger fares in the state.
