Meta is testing robots to plug in cables, reset servers and perform other physical tasks in its data centers, according to current and former workers familiar with the projects. The reported trials include evaluating a Kinova Gen3 arm for power cycling servers and another robot for swapping networking cables. A simpler device can press power buttons on equipment when remotely prompted by a human. Meta declined to comment on the testing, while saying it is investing in training and hiring data-center workers.
