Anthropic reported its first operating profit, $974 million in the second quarter, in the IPO prospectus it filed Monday, Yahoo Finance reported. Revenue rose to $11.6 billion from $4.7 billion in the first quarter, while the cost of computing power running Claude rose to $5.6 billion from $3.4 billion. The previous quarter had a $1.7 billion operating loss.

The filing also describes Anthropic Direct, an effort to build its own data centers and separate capacity commitments from commitments for the computing infrastructure inside them. Operating profitability did not eliminate its overall losses: Anthropic reported a first-half net loss of $80.7 billion.
