Binance said its security incident affected about $6.3 billion in assets and that nearly $3 billion had been frozen on-chain. Its initial investigation suggests a compromised DevOps engineer's laptop allowed an attacker to access a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawals.

The exchange said it found no evidence of a wallet private key leak and would cover all losses using its Secure Asset Fund for Users and its own funds. Deposits and withdrawals remain temporarily suspended while security checks are completed.
