The ts-rust project has released an early Rust port of Microsoft's Go-based TypeScript compiler, including its type checker and language server. Its repository reports that type checking takes about half the Go implementation's time across 60 open-source projects, using a geometric mean, and that all 181,711 ported Go tests pass.

Developers can install the tsc-rs npm package for Linux x64 and macOS arm64. The port tracks a specific TypeScript 7.1.0-dev revision and includes Effect diagnostics in the same checking pass.

The creator says the code was generated by language models and has never been personally reviewed. Preview packages are slower than the measured build, and known problems include differences in some project builds and memory growth during long editor sessions.
