Eskenazi Health has disclosed a phishing-related breach of an employee's cloud-based work account and begun notifying affected individuals. The Indianapolis health system says accessible material included Social Security numbers, medical records, insurance and billing information, and substance use disorder diagnosis and treatment information; exposure varies by individual.

The phishing message came from a trusted business contact's compromised account. Unauthorized access lasted from June 1 to July 27, when Eskenazi detected suspicious activity and terminated access. Affected people are being offered free identity protection and credit monitoring.
