# Infleqtion and Honeywell build chip-based laser stabilization prototype

Infleqtion, Honeywell Aerospace and UC Santa Barbara researchers developed a prototype optical cavity on a silicon nitride chip, Blockonomi reported. The device reduces the space required to stabilize lasers used in quantum computers, clocks and sensing systems.

UC Santa Barbara's OCAQπ Group designed the prototype with Infleqtion engineers, and Honeywell fabricated it using its established photonic integration process. Traditional optical cavities often require large, fragile tabletop equipment. Infleqtion says the smaller design could support precision navigation, atomic timing, data centers and telecommunications; those applications remain prospective.
