Anthropic releases Haiku 5.5 and halves Sonnet 5.5 cache-read prices

Anthropic logo Image: Primary
Anthropic released Claude Haiku 5.5 on its developer platform, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, and cut Sonnet 5.5 cache-read prices by 50%, from $0.20 to $0.10 per million tokens. Haiku 5.5 adds adjustable effort settings for trading cost against capability on tasks such as summarization, classification and coding subagent work. Anthropic says Haiku 5.5 costs around 75% less to run on average than Haiku 4.5. Its stated prices are 90% lower for requests up to 100,000 tokens and 50% lower above that threshold, although an updated tokenizer uses slightly more tokens per task. The company recommends Sonnet 5.5 and Opus 5.5 for complex agentic coding; Haiku is aimed at narrower workloads.
