Google Project Zero found that its BigSleep AI system identified 45 actionable V8 vulnerabilities over six months, compared with 37 for Fuzzilli, a tool that generates JavaScript tests to uncover bugs. Both systems automatically examine Chrome's JavaScript engine in production.

Bug records showed roughly 25% overlap, while dedicated experiments estimated roughly 60%. Either result leaves vulnerabilities that only one approach discovers, supporting the use of both methods. The researchers could not make a reliable cost-per-bug comparison because neither system was optimized for that measure.
