Return secures €835 million financing for German battery storage

Return secures €835 million financing for German battery storage Image: EU-Startups
Energy storage company Return has secured €835 million in portfolio financing underwritten by Deutsche Bank and Rabobank to expand in Germany. The initial framework covers three battery storage projects with a combined capacity of 117 MW. Return aims to install at least 1 GW annually from 2027 and plans annual German project investment of €750 million to €1.2 billion, depending on market conditions. The financing connects physical battery infrastructure with its virtual flexibility services, which combine storage from multiple facilities so energy companies can access capacity without managing individual assets.
